The JCC, in partnership with Matan: Jewish Learning IS for Every Child, is excited to offer a Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation program for children with learning disabilities. This program includes an ongoing class focusing on liturgy and rituals of the Jewish calendar year, as well as, referrals for one-on-on tutoring outside of class as the bar/bat mitzvah date approaches. The Matan consultant will be available to help navigate the bar/bat mitzvah process with individual families and local synagogues. There will also be an opportunity for unaffiliated families to find a welcoming and friendly synagogue that meets their needs. Program runs October–June.

MATAN was created to offer a unique combination of services to enrich the lives of Jewish children with special needs and their families. With Jewish educators, special educators, and educational consultants on staff, MATAN is committed to giving the gift of Jewish learning to every child, regardless of ability. Its fundamental educational philosophy is that all children learn differently and some learners need additional resources to succeed in their academic environments. By providing support to children, teachers and families, MATAN aims to address these challenges one child at a time.
