Get Organized
Get Organized and Conquer Your Wish List in 2015 Jennifer Zwiebel What are the things you didn’t get to this year? Are there piles of paper you’ve been shuffling around from surface to surface? A new career you’ve been meaning to explore? A book you’ve been longing to write? We tend to carry with us, from year to year, the same unfinished (and often unstarted) projects. What’s that costing you? How much time are you wasting because you can’t find what you’re looking for? How much tension are you carrying with you because of a space or a job or a relationship that doesn’t look the way you wish it did? How much energy is being taken up by the project your soul longs to be working on, but that you never seem to find time for? STOP approaching your wish list the way you have been. Let this year be different. Join Jennifer Zwiebel, organizing expert, author and founder of A Place of Joy™, and discover what it takes to achieve the things that are most important to you. Walk away with tools for avoiding self-sabotage, with the secret to setting yourself up for success, and with a practical plan for making 2015 the year you conquered your wish list. Sleep better feel better: Improv your sleep with CBT
Dr. Ross Levin Dr. Levin specializes in CBT-I (cognitive-behavior therapy – insomnia) which has been empirically demonstrated to be the most effective clinical management tool for anxiety-based insomnia. Briefly put, CBT-I is a systematic analysis of the thinking processes which often operate under the radar and contribute to significant anxiety (“If I don’t sleep well tonight my whole life will be ruined”), often outside of the patient’s awareness. Patients are trained thru a process of careful self-monitoring to become aware of these thoughts and the triggers that set them in motion. Dr. Levin also incorporates key components of behavioral sleep medicine (stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep hygiene) and utilizes a number of tools to help patients observe but NOT engage their busy racing minds (mindful meditation, moving guided imagery, 16 group progressive muscle relaxation, breathing techniques, etc). In addition, Dr. Levin helps patients (in collaboration with the prescribing physician) to titrate off their sleep medications so that these results are achieved without drugs, a treatment goal for many individuals. While results vary, most patients without significant mitigating factors (eg, severe depression, recent trauma) demonstrate significant improvements within 5-10 sessions and studies indicate that these gains continue and strengthen with time, even after the termination of treatment. Dr. Ross Levin is a behavioral sleep specialist and Cognitive Behavior therapist in independent practice in New York City with a specialty in stress management and treating insomnia, disturbed dreaming and anxiety disorders. Dr. Levin earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology in 1987 from the State University of New York at Buffalo and was a university professor for over 20 years. Dr. Levin has published over 75 empirical papers on sleep, dreaming, and consciousness in leading peer-reviewed (more)REGISTER

The Neurobiology of Emotion
Barbara Allen-Lyall, PhD, Professor School of Education, Manhattanville College We are born with the desire and ability to learn. The innate learning process is intricately entwined with emotion and relies upon the brain's emotional centers to first embed new learning and later retrieve whatever it is we have mentally captured. Understanding these neurobiological processes helps us to appreciate why emotion is central to our lives. Dr. Allen-Lyall will present the latest scientific research on emotion and will offer her perspective on brain education from the standpoint of a childhood educator, college professor, and professional musician.
