A Bridge Across Time: A Jewish Family Returns to its Ancestral Village After 500 Years
Andrée Aelion Brooks, one of our regular lecturers, talks about a history-infused reunion in Spain she attended of descendants of a Jewish family from the medieval village of Ayllon, northeast of Madrid. They arrived, strangers all, from twelve countries to recount, recall, and explore. What happened? What did they learn? She will also include the amazing tale of her lengthy quest, as apart of the project, to find the missing, 350-year old oil painting of one of their common ancestors, the controversial rabbi, Solomon ben Jacob Ayllon (1664-1728).
