Adoption, Attachment and Special Needs Children
Adoptive parents provide children with home and family while improving their circumstances and providing them with opportunities for a rich and full life. Adoption is filled with productive potential and possibilities, however, despite the successes, the process of raising an adopted child can be exceedingly difficult and challenging. Dr. Haddad will discuss issues that come up on a daily basis for the family which can be related to attachment, special needs and behavioral concerns. Addressing these issues can be complex and confusing. Understanding what is normative vs pathological and how and where to seek help will be a focus of this presentation. Fadi Haddad, MD is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. As the medical director of the Center for Family Development in NYC, Dr. Haddad has developed special expertise in working with adopted children and their parents. He is trained and certified in dyadic developmental psychotherapy which uniquely addresses the behavioral and emotional challenges that adoptive families face. (more)REGISTER
