Arlekino @ Generation R 4-6 Years
Now in its third-year of residency at the JCC in Manhattan, Arlekino Theater Troupe cultivates interest in the arts in Russian-speaking Jewish children ages 4-6, while instilling an appreciation for their Jewish heritage. This 2-hour program nurtures children's self expression, inquiry, and exploration, and promotes Russian language development. The program includes inludes dramatic play, dance, music, storytelling, and art workshops, inspiring young children through interactive interpretations of Jewish folktales, courtesy of the PJ Library. The program culminates in an original, multidisciplinary performance piece by the program's participants. Taught in Russian by experienced early childhood educators and performing and fine-arts specialists. For more information, contact Jane Tuv at jtuv@jccmanhattan.org. Generation R programs are generously supported by Genesis Philanthropy Group. (more)REGISTER

The Polgar Variant
The extraordinary story of three Hungarian-Jewish sisters who were raised to be chess masters in Communist Budapest of the 1970s. Their father, driven by his educational vision, determined their destiny before they were even born. László Polgár believed that "Geniuses are made, not born," and he set out to prove it. The canvas he chose was his three daughters; The medium—chess. The girls were home-schooled and devoted their time to studying and practicing chess—with surprising and remarkable results. Dir.
